A Highway 65 motorcycle crash in Placer County claimed the life of a 23-year-old Rocklin man when his motorcycle rear-ended a pickup in a suspected drunk driving crash.
According to the California Highway Patrol, they received reports about the accident around 6:50 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 65, located just south of Twelve Bridges Drive near Lincoln.
Moreover, the CHP’s Auburn Office stated that the young man from Rocklin was riding his 2000 Honda motorcycle in the left lane at high speed. He was navigating towards slower traffic when the accident occurred.
Subsequently, the motorcycle hit the rear of a 2008 Ford F-250 pickup driven by a 61-year-old man from Sacramento. Fortunately, the truck driver did not sustain injuries from the accident.
Meanwhile, the impact threw the Rocklin man off his motorcycle, landing him in the highway’s right southbound lane. Then, a 2016 Chrysler 300 struck him, driven by a 74-year-old Rocklin man who escaped injury.
Unfortunately, medical personnel declared the motorcyclist dead at the scene. The Placer County Coroner’s Office will release his name after family notification.
As of now, initial investigations hint towards alcohol being a factor in this Highway 65 motorcycle crash.
J&M Tip: Due to the limited protection they provide, motorcycle accidents can result in grave injuries or even death. During such distressing times, obtaining the services of a personal injury lawyer is essential.

More About Motorcycle Accident Liability
Motorcycle accidents, such as this Highway 65 motorcycle crash, usually cause more severe damage than other auto accidents. Motorcyclists are prone to sustaining major injuries because they are more exposed. Also, motorcycles are lighter and don’t provide much protection. Most motorcycle accidents are caused by the following:
- Compact and less visible on the road
- Loss of control due to road debris
- Motorcyclists are exposed to road and other vehicles
- Prone to wobbling
- Unskilled motorcyclists who don’t have proper licenses
However, motorcycle accident liability always falls on the negligent driver. Most of the time, both the motorcyclist and the other vehicle’s driver can be at fault. It all depends on who made careless road maneuvers, which contributed to the accident. Proving negligence can become challenging on your own.
