Merced County, CA (October 15, 2023) – A Highway 99 hit-and-run crash in Merced County left a male pedestrian fatal after multiple vehicles struck him. According to the Merced Sun Star, the authorities responded around 6:23 am on Sunday.

Sgt. Daniel Bowen of the California Highway Patrol stated officers responded to the scene following reports of a pedestrian struck by cars on the highway south of Plainsburg Road.
Moreover, it seems the man had been driving north on Highway 99 in a Honda Civic and was involved in a crash with a large truck.
For unknown reasons, the man then ran across the freeway from the northbound to the southbound lanes, where multiple vehicles hit him.
Unfortunately, the man died at the scene.
Several individuals involved stayed and provided information to the police officers, according to Bowen.
However, authorities are now looking for two cars, a blue Kia sedan and an unidentified color Hyundai, thought to be part of the hit-and-run incident. These cars are suspected of front-end damage and were seen heading south on Highway 99 post-incident.
