A Highway 99 solo crash left one man dead and two others severely injured after crashing into a wooden signpost.
A fatal Highway 99 solo crash claimed the life of one passenger and severely injured two others on Sunday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 57-year-old man from Bakersfield was driving a 2003 Ford southbound on Highway 99, approaching Olive Drive. The vehicle’s speed at the time remained undetermined.
The driver then executed an unsafe turning turn, causing the Ford to lose control. Subsequently, the Ford veered off the roadway in a southwesterly direction, colliding with a wooden signpost.
The vehicle also continued its southwesterly course, ultimately overturning.
Both the driver and the right front passenger, a 59-year-old woman, were wearing seatbelts during the crash but suffered significant injuries.
Responders promptly transported them to Kern Medical for medical attention.
Unfortunately, a second passenger, identified as a woman, was seated in the rear of the Ford and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
She was ejected from the vehicle and sustained severe injuries, leading to her unfortunate death at the scene.
Moreover, CHP’s investigation has ruled out alcohol and drugs as contributing factors in this Highway 99 solo crash.
J&M Tip: Passengers have the right to compensation if they sustain injuries from a crash caused by their or another driver. It is best to contact a personal injury lawyer to determine the best legal options in such cases.
