I-805 Wrong-Way Car Crash Left One Driver Fatal and Another Injured near the U.S.-Mexico Border in San Diego, CA
San Diego, CA (July 26, 2023) – A driver sustained fatal injuries in an I-805 wrong-way car crash in San Diego. Another driver also sustained injuries in the crash. According to CBS8, police received reports about the crash around 11:54 a.m. on Wednesday.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a fatal I-805 wrong-way car crash involving a white Audi sedan and a Honda minivan in southbound lanes of Interstate 805 near the San Ysidro Port of Entry.
Due to the collision, one driver died at the scene, while another sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
According to witnesses, a 29-year-old Audi driver from San Diego tried to enter Mexico but suddenly executed a U-turn. Unfortunately, the car veered in the wrong direction and collided with the Honda.
Authorities confirmed that the Audi missed the last exit and headed in the wrong direction in the southbound lanes during the accident.
Moreover, California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Jesse Matias mentioned that the Honda driver, later described as a Hispanic male, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Audi driver incurred life-threatening injuries. Responders took him to a local hospital for treatment.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and the Cities of Chula Vista and National City were dispatched to the scene.
