The California Highway Patrol responded to a fatal 110 Freeway DUI crash in Pasadena, leaving one driver dead and three others injured.
The driver, identified as 33-year-old Jesse Ramirez of Los Angeles, died at the scene.
The incident began at 12:06 a.m. on June 18, when CHP received a report of a possible DUI driver heading northbound on the freeway.
According to the authorities, a 2012 Kia Rio traveled northbound on the Arroyo Seco Parkway without any headlights and failed to maintain a single lane.
Upon the police’s attempt to halt his vehicle, the driver responded by rapidly accelerating, leading to a rear-end collision with two stationary cars waiting at a red light.
Aside from the fatal driver, three other individuals sustained moderate to severe injuries in a separate vehicle.
Responders then immediately rushed them to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Additionally, authorities mentioned that Ramirez failed to wear a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
