The San Mateo County District Attorney’s office identified the man charged with vehicular manslaughter and DUI after being involved in an alleged DUI crash on Highway 35 in Woodside.
Two men died at the scene of the crash. They were Josh McGuigan and Henry Keating.
According to a summary written by District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe, at about 5:30 pm on June 21, three men drove north on Highway 35 after having dinner and drinks at a restaurant on Skyline Boulevard.
James Morton Worthington reportedly traveled at a high rate of speed of 90 mph on the winding mountain road. He then lost control of his vehicle on Reids Roost Road and crashed into a tree.
Witnesses stopped to help and pull Worthington out of the vehicle. Unfortunately, his two friends, Josh McGuigan and Henry Keating, died at the scene.

More About Car Accident Liability
Various circumstances of the car accident can pinpoint the liability of damages. In some instances, thorough investigations can reveal careless behavior. This can include the simple act of recklessly turning or cutting in front of another vehicle. In terms of determining who is at fault for an accident, this can be defined by common law. Any Sacramento or Los Angeles car accident lawyer recognizes that fault has four basic levels:
- Negligence
- Recklessness (wanton conduct)
- Intentional misconduct
- Strict liability
However, different state laws can have variations of applicable traffic laws. For example, in some states, multiple drivers can be liable for an accident. This is why thorough investigations are important after a car accident. Having a strong case showing the liability of the at-fault party can help guarantee your compensation.
