Bakersfield, CA (February 27, 2023) – Juana Torres de Calderon (53) was identified as the fatality in a suspected DUI crash along Highway 65 in Bakersfield. According to KGET, the crash occurred before 4:00 am on February 14.

The Kern Country Coroner’s office confirmed the victim’s identity in the suspected DUI crash along Highway 65 in Bakersfield that occurred on February 14.
The victim was identified as Juana Torres de Calderon of Bakersfield. She died of her injuries at the scene.
According to authorities, a northbound Ram truck, driven by William Pederson, crossed over double yellow lines into the southbound lane.
He then crashed into another vehicle occupied by Torres de Calderon and one passenger.
CHP officers later arrested Pederson. He allegedly had a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) twice California’s legal limit of 0.08% for non-commercial drivers.
Pederson was also charged with second-degree murder and other offenses related to the crash.
