La Mesa Plane Crash Left Two Occupants Injured near a La Mesa Church
La Mesa, CA (July 10, 2023) – Two occupants sustained injuries from a La Mesa plane crash near a La Mesa Church. According to the San Diego Union Tribune, the accident occurred at about 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The authorities responded to a La Mesa plane crash involving a small plane that crashed at La Mesa Community Church on Lake Murray Boulevard.
According to the reports, a Cessna 185 crashed next to a La Mesa church after the plane’s engine malfunctioned and eventually shut down.
John Brasil of Lemon Grove, one of the occupants of the plane, said they struggled to maneuver the plane 6 minutes after taking off from Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport in San Diego.
He said in an interview, “It stopped once, started up again, and then quit. I was thinking Lake Murray, but it wasn’t going to make it there, so I had to go to Plan B.”
Moreover, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that at around 3:05 p.m., the plane suffered “engine issues” and tried to land on a city roadway before driving through a fence and crashing into a ravine.
Due to the impact of the crash, two occupants in their 50s sustained moderate injuries. Brasil was able to climb up a steep hill with the firefighters’ assistance, while the other victim had to be carried up the embankment. They both received treatment at Sharp Memorial Hospital.
Furthermore, other than the occupants’ injuries, the crash resulted in a wrecked fence. It also damaged nearby power lines, shutting off power to hundreds of nearby houses and businesses.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of this La Mesa plane crash.
