Petaluma, CA (December 20, 2023) – Lemuel Rodas Diaz (53) of Novato succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of a Petaluma head-on crash after a pickup truck and an SUV collided. According to the Marin Independent Journal, the crash happened just before 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Lemuel Rodas Diaz, a 53-year-old resident of Novato, tragically lost his life after colliding with an SUV in a Petaluma head-on crash on Saturday, as confirmed by the Sonoma County Coroner Unit.
The collision occurred on Roblar Road when a Volvo SUV traveling west crossed the double yellow lines, colliding with the front of the eastbound Toyota pickup truck driven by Lemuel Rodas Diaz near Stony Point Road.
Unfortunately, Diaz died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Volvo, 74-year-old Linda Johnson, sustained significant but not life-threatening injuries.
According to California Highway Patrol officer David deRutte, she was initially transported to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and later flown to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
Authorities also apprehended Johnson on charges of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. Due to the extent of her injuries, she was released to medical care after the arrest, as indicated by deRutte on Tuesday.
Moreover, the investigation into this Petaluma head-on crash is ongoing, with the CHP urging anyone with information about the collision to contact the Santa Rosa CHP office at 707-588-1400.
