The victim was identified by her family as Marie Alexander.
According to authorities, surveillance cameras from a nearby market captured the tragic accident on video. The victim was reportedly trying to cross the street when a dark-colored Chevrolet fatally struck her. The driver of the said vehicle did not stop and fled the scene.
A search for the hit-and-run driver is underway. The investigators believe that the vehicle is likely to be damaged on its front end.
