Los Angeles, CA (January 7, 2024) – Matthew Topete (21) of Santa Clarita succumbed to fatal injuries after a Rockwell Canyon Road crash where a vehicle overturned and caught fire. According to HomeTownStation, police received reports about the crash at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.

According to Mike Pittman, a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatch supervisor, reports of a traffic collision on Valencia Boulevard near Rockwell Canyon Road in Valencia were received by first responders around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Pittman also confirmed that one vehicle was overturned and caught fire.
Unfortunately, the driver of the vehicle, Matthew Topete, was pronounced dead on arrival, as confirmed by Sgt. Joana Warren with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Following the unfortunate incident, Topete’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with the expenses associated with a funeral service.
