A Merced County Motorcycle Crash Left 36-Year-Old Motorcyclist from Pinole Fatal
Merced County, CA (April 9, 2024) – A Merced County motorcycle crash on the northbound side of Interstate 5 killed a 36-year-old motorcyclist after tires detached from a trailer struck him. According to the Merced Sun Star, the police responded at around 11:53 p.m. on Sunday.

A fatal Merced County motorcycle crash claimed the life of a 36-year-old motorcyclist from Pinole after tires detached from a trailer and struck him.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident unfolded when a truck, a 2015 Volvo operated by 56-year-old Ramiro Orozco of Los Angeles, towed a box trailer in the second northbound lane of Interstate 5. Meanwhile, the Pinole motorcyclist attempted to pass the truck in the first lane.
Two tires dislodged from the trailer during this maneuver, careening into the motorcycle’s path.
The impact then forcibly ejected the rider from his bike onto the interstate despite wearing a helmet.
Unfortunately, the injuries sustained proved fatal, and the rider died at the scene.
Moreover, authorities have stated that drugs or alcohol do not appear to have contributed to this Merced County motorcycle crash.
