Mission Hills Car Dealership Crash Left One Fatal, Three Others Injured
Los Angeles, CA (August 9, 2023) – One victim succumbed to injuries and three others sustained minor injuries in a Mission Hills car dealership crash. According to KTLA5, the crash occurred around 9:10 a.m. on Wednesday.
A Mission Hills Car Dealership crash left one fatal and three others with minor injuries after a vehicle plowed into the enclosed service area of a car dealership.
A 55-year-old woman died, and three others sustained minor injuries after a vehicle crashed into a service area of a Toyota dealership in a Mission Hills Car Dealership crash.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the crash occurred at 11041 N. Sepulveda Boulevard when an older woman, who might have mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, steered her SUV into the sheltered service bay entrance and collided with the customer reception area located within the dealership.
Public Information Officer for the Los Angeles Fire Department, Capt. Erik Scott stated that as the vehicle crashed into the customer reception area, it broke a glass, hit two employees, and ran over a customer before finally coming to a halt against a cinder block wall.
Moreover, witnesses recounted how the customer got trapped beneath the vehicle, being pulled for approximately 20 feet. Bystanders and an off-duty nurse in the area who initiated CPR worked together to release her.
Responders then took her to a regional trauma center, where she died. Her name was not immediately released.
Additionally, the car hit two workers. Among them, a 35-year-old man endured injuries to his head and foot, managing to crawl to a safe location. Paramedics brought him and a 23-year-old male worker with a laceration on his arm to a hospital.
Both patients are currently in stable condition, Scott mentioned.
Meanwhile, the SUV driver remained unharmed and stayed at the scene to cooperate with the investigation of this Mission Hills Car Dealership crash.
UPDATE: They recently identified the 55-year-old victim as Yadira Calito. She was known as the nanny of 2-year-old Rennie Foster — the son of “American Idol” alum Katherine McPhee and her husband David Foster.
J&M Tip: Questions arise about necessary medical care and property damage after a car collision. An attorney can assist in determining accountability and identifying the party at fault for the incident.

More About Pedestrian Accident Liability
Pedestrians usually get major injuries in pedestrian accidents. Sometimes, they can even cause death. When it comes to liability, it can fall on the pedestrian or driver based on various factors of the accident. Proving liability can become vague or obvious. The process generally involves finding out who acted carelessly, causing the accident. Any Los Angeles personal injury or accident lawyer will tell you that you need to show the following to prove negligence and liability:
- legal responsibility or “duty of care”
- violated or breached the duty of care
- the violation caused the accident
- the violation resulted in injuries or damages
In some cases, the driver might’ve sped down the road, hitting the pedestrian. This can put fault on the driver. Meanwhile, pedestrians can get hit by a car because they acted against traffic signals, such as jaywalking. In these instances, the pedestrian can become at fault. Other factors, such as lack of road markings and ample lighting, can also lead to pedestrian accidents. In these cases, a pedestrian accident lawyer can help look at all angles to determine liability. Learn more about pedestrian accident lawyers in California here.
