Newman, CA (January 10, 2022) – 21-year-old Saul Betancourt of Modesto died in a fatal car crash at River Road and Villa Manucha Road in Newman. The incident happened around 7 am on Sunday, January 9.
Sadly, Bentacourt was pronounced dead at the scene. However, another person was involved in the crash, Betancourt’s passenger. She sustained major injuries. She was taken to the hospital immediately and is expected to make a full recovery.
According to authorities, the crash involved a Newman police officer who was requesting assistance when the crash happened. The involved officer was identified as Eric Fulmer who started working for the department in 2012. He currently works as a detective in the investigations units. Fulmer also sustained major injuries, but they weren’t life-threatening.
