Authorities have identified the pedestrian who lost their life in a Forestville hit-and-run accident in Sonoma County on Sunday.
Police revealed the victim’s identity as 18-year-old Oswaldo Mario-Rogelio Cardenas Jr. of Cloverdale.
According to the reports, Cardenas was walking home from a fishing trip alongside River Road at approximately 7:30 a.m. with two others when a Buick Enclave struck him, resulting in his tragic death.
Although the driver briefly stopped after the collision, they subsequently fled the scene. Police later spotted the involved vehicle, a 2008 to 2013 Buick Enclave, close to the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit station on Airport Boulevard.
The California Highway Patrol shared surveillance footage of the suspected SUV on Sunday.
