Pedro Saldana Fatal in Santa Nella Traffic Crash Involving Two Big Rig Trucks in Merced County
Merced County, CA (October 19, 2022) – Pedro Saldana (36) of Cantua Creek was identified as the fatality in a traffic crash involving two big rig trucks in Merced County. According to Merced SunStar, the crash was reported around 11:44 pm on Saturday.

The California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of a traffic crash involving two big rig trucks in Santa Nella.
One of the drivers died at the scene. The Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s office identified him as Pedro Saldana of Cantua Creek.
According to CHP, an eastbound 2022 Freightliner towing two trailers of tomatoes drifted into the westbound lane after its driver lost control of the rear trailer. An empty westbound 2020 Freightliner, driven by Pedro Saldana, then crashed with the other big rig’s rear trailer.
The other driver was identified as Alonso De Jesus Lara. He did not sustain any injuries.
Authorities confirmed that drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in this crash.
