A Perris hit-and-run left a 3-year-old girl dead on Monday after an accident with a dirt bike rider on August 31. Her mother, Rubi Navarro, also sustained severe injuries from the collision.
Authorities revealed the victim’s identity as 3-year-old Odalys Navarro.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the child was on her bicycle along the dirt sidewalk when a dirt bike motorcyclist struck her and her pregnant mother from behind.
Both the mother and the daughter were rushed to the hospital.
Additionally, family members revealed that Rubi Navarro is currently five months pregnant.
Authorities said the woman and her child were walking home at the intersection of Steel Peak Drive and Palm Street when the accident happened.
In her message, Rubi Navarro shared her sadness and criticized the careless driver for running away, causing her family great pain. She also noted that Odalys would have turned four years old in a few weeks.
Moreover, their loved ones established a GoFundMe campaign to assist with the girl’s funeral expenses and medical bills.
Furthermore, the authorities did not provide additional details about the hit-and-run suspect responsible for this tragic Perris hit-and-run crash.
Jeff Greene, Chief of Staff for Riverside County Supervisor Kevin Jeffries, shed light on the community of Good Hope, describing it as rural and acknowledging limited lighting in certain areas.
Predominantly home to low-income Black and Latino families, the area has faced challenges, including complaints about off-road vehicles using the roads. The county has even sought funding to establish sidewalks within the community to enhance safety.
J&M Tip: When dealing with life-altering consequences such as debilitating injuries, loss of income, high medical expenses, or the loss of a loved one, having a qualified personal injury attorney by your side can be invaluable.
