According to the Petaluma Police Department, they responded to Frates Road and Lakeville Highway following a 911 call by a local resident reporting an accident.
Upon arriving, the officers discovered two cars at the center of the intersection and one injured person.
When officers interacted with one of the drivers, 63-year-old Phillip Chaney of Bellevue, they noted signs of alcohol intoxication.
Then, while performing a DUI investigation, the Petaluma Fire Department sent the injured person to a local hospital.
The officers concluded that Chaney was driving under the influence and subsequently arrested him.
Following medical clearance, Chaney was sent to the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility, where he was booked on suspicion of a DUI collision involving injury.
Lakeville Highway resumed regular traffic around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday after this Petaluma DUI crash.
Meanwhile, Chaney remained in custody Thursday morning, with bail set at $100,000.
