Porterville, CA (November 30, 2023) – A Porterville hit-and-run left a 24-year-old woman fatal after a car hit her while crossing the road. Police are also searching for the driver involved in the crash. According to the BakersfieldNow, the authorities responded to the scene around 5:51 a.m. on Tuesday.

A Porterville hit-and-run tragically resulted in a 24-year-old woman’s death when a car struck her as she crossed the road. California Highway Patrol officers are actively searching for the driver suspected of fleeing the scene.
According to the report, the woman was walking to work across Avenue 8 at Famous Vineyards, located west of Road 208.
Simultaneously, a Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra pickup truck approached eastbound on Avenue 8, hitting the pedestrian.
Officials report that the impact caused her to be dragged approximately 100 feet.
Subsequently, the driver stopped the vehicle, reversed, and continued eastbound on Avenue 8, leaving the scene.
Authorities described the driver as a Hispanic man around 30 years old. Furthermore, the vehicle involved is believed to be a white or gray 2007-2013 extended cab or quad cab Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra pickup truck.
Notably, the truck’s left front grille and fender reportedly sustained damage.
Whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the accident remains unknown.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim at a later time.
