Ramona, CA (April 10, 2024) – A Ramona car crash on State Route 78 killed a 39-year-old woman after her car crashed into a preschool playground. According to the Ramona Sentinel, the woman was heading east around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

A Ramona car crash claimed the life of a 39-year-old woman after her vehicle collided with a large rock and tree, eventually crashing into a preschool playground.
California Highway Patrol Officer Jared Grieshaber reported that the woman was traveling eastbound on State Route 78, just west of Earlham Street, in her Honda Civic when her vehicle swerved off the roadway.
As a result, her car collided with a rock and tree, overturned, and then careened down an embankment. Eventually, it stopped after crashing into a chain-link fence, landing upside down on a preschool playground area of Thomsen Learning Center.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, the driver, died at the scene at 7 p.m., as confirmed by Cal Fire. However, authorities have chosen not to disclose her identity until her family has been notified.
Following the incident, Nicolle Daniels, the Director of the Thomsen Learning Center, issued a statement stating, “No children or staff members were present or harmed on-site.”
Moreover, Officer Grieshaber indicated that there is suspicion that drugs or alcohol may have played a role in this fatal Ramona car crash.
