Sacramento County, CA (May 28, 2022) – A multi-vehicle accident in Sacramento County left five injured, closing Highway 12 at Jackson Slough Road. According to KCRA 3, the accident happened at around 2:00 pm on Friday.
Five people received minor to major injuries after the crash on Highway 12 at Jackson Slough Road near Rio Vista in Sacramento County.
According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident involved seven vehicles, including a big rig car transporter. After the accident, four victims were transported to a hospital after sustaining minor injuries.
One of the five victims sustained major injuries. This person was then flown out of the scene to a hospital. The hospital later released the victim with a broken arm.
According to the CHP, they closed the highway’s eastbound lanes to stop traffic. They shared that the big rig collided with a white minivan’s rear. This then caused a chain of collisions with three more vehicles.
Then, the big rig went into the highway’s westbound lane and hit two additional westbound vehicles. Due to the impact, the big rig fell off the road and into an embankment.
Right now, the South Sacramento CHP is investigating the accident. Investigators also noted that they don’t believe intoxication contributed to this accident.

More About Car Accident Liability
Various circumstances of the car accident can pinpoint the liability of damages. In some instances, thorough investigations can reveal careless behavior. This can include the simple act of recklessly turning or cutting in front of another vehicle. In terms of determining who is at fault for an accident, this can be defined by common law. Any Sacramento or Los Angeles car accident lawyer recognizes that fault has four basic levels:
- Negligence
- Recklessness (wanton conduct)
- Intentional misconduct
- Strict liability
However, different state laws can have variations of applicable traffic laws. For example, in some states, multiple drivers can be liable for an accident. This is why thorough investigations are important after a car accident. Having a strong case showing the liability of the at-fault party can help guarantee your compensation.
