Santa Rosa Police Department‘s preliminary investigation revealed a 21-year-old driver, a Santa Rosa resident, was driving above the speed limit.
Consequently, his vehicle reportedly lost control on a curve, flew through the air, rolled several times, and landed upright in the creek bed, as shared on a Facebook post by the police.
Unfortunately, a 17-year-old female passenger in the right rear seat didn’t survive the crash.
Responders also transported two male passengers, aged 17 and 19 to a hospital due to severe injuries.
Meanwhile, the older passenger was later transferred to a burn center for specialized treatment.
Moreover, authorities suspect that alcohol and drugs played a role in this Santa Rosa car crash.
The driver’s blood alcohol content was .11%, higher than the legal limit by .03%.
Hence, police arrested and charged him with two felonies – driving under the influence and causing harm to others while having a blood alcohol content of .08% or more.
Additionally, he was also arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Furthermore, due to ongoing family notifications and the individuals’ ages, the authorities haven’t disclosed the names of the vehicle’s occupants yet.
