Eduardo Villalpando, 38, had just escorted a group of children across the street and was standing on the corner of Centralia and Pioneer Streets when a speeding Dodge Challenger collided with a turning Honda Pilot SUV at the intersection.
The impact sent the Challenger careening into the street corner, smashing through a cement shopping sign and directly into Villalpando, launching him into the air.
Additionally, video footage from SuperFine Auto Spa car wash, located nearby, captured one of the car wash workers applying a makeshift tourniquet to his leg to stem the bleeding until paramedics arrived.
As a result, Eduardo Villalpando suffered the loss of his left leg. He is also unable to walk for approximately six to eight weeks, with extensive bruising and fractured ribs on both sides.
Moreover, Villalpando mentioned, “I’m thankful I’m alive and just fighting every day to get stronger. The most painful part of this experience has not been necessarily what I’m going through but having to see what my family is going through.”
Furthermore, the family has established a GoFundMe page to assist with medical expenses during Villalpando’s recovery.
