Song Xiuming and Xu Zhao Got Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident in Merced
Merced, CA (February 3, 2022) – Song Xiuming (68) and Xu Zhao (66) died after a two-vehicle accident on Highway 140. The incident happened at around 2:14 pm on Tuesday.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Xiuming was driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata heading northbound on the Interstate 5 off-ramp. Zhao was a passenger in the Hyundai. The Sonata stopped before going in Highway 140’s eastbound lane, getting in the path of a 2020 Peterbilt.
For unknown reasons Song Xiuming and Xu Zhao’s vehicle stopped before entering Highway 140’s eastbound lane.
The Peterbilt hit the left side of the Hyundai, which sustained major damage. Responders pronounced both Xiuming and Zhao dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the 40-year-old male driver of the Peterbilt sustained no injuries.
According to the CHP, drugs and alcohol didn’t seem to be involved in this incident.
