Sotelo Gilberto Suffered Fatal Injuries in 215 Freeway Hit-and-Run Crash
Homeland, CA (August 7, 2023) – A pedestrian, identified as Sotelo Gilberto (38), succumbed to injuries after a 215 Freeway hit-and-run crash. According to Patch, police received reports about the accident around 1:45 a.m. on Monday.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a deadly 215 Freeway hit-and-crash that left a pedestrian fatally injured.
The Riverside County coroner’s office identified 38-year-old Sotelo Gilberto of Homeland as the pedestrian killed in the crash.
According to the report, a Honda or truck driver traveling southbound on Interstate 215 drifted right and struck a 38-year-old man refueling his car on the shoulder of Interstate 215 in Riverside.
Due to the impact of the crash, Gilberto succumbed to his injuries despite responders arriving at the scene less than 10 minutes after the collision.
Meanwhile, the driver who caused the crash fled the scene and continued southbound on Interstate 215.
Moreover, CHP Investigators collected vehicle parts believed to pertain to the Honda SUV or truck engaged in the crash. To aid in identifying the hit-and-run driver and vehicle, the CHP requests help from the community.
Police stated that the right side of the vehicle would display notable damage.
Officer Renteria urges anyone who witnessed the crash or possesses pertinent information about this 215 Freeway hit-and-run crash to contact the California Highway Patrol’s Accident Investigation Unit at (951) 637-8000.
