South Los Angeles, CA (October 25, 2023) – A South LA hit-and-run crash fatally injured a bicyclist after a hit-and-run driver dragged him for several blocks. According to ABC7, the accident happened shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

The collision unfolded shortly after 9 a.m. at 117th Street and Broadway.
Following the impact, the driver continued to drive for approximately a mile, with the bicyclist still connected to the vehicle.
Although Bo’s Mini Market surveillance footage does not capture the exact moment of impact, it reveals the driver’s failure to slow down or stop to offer assistance after striking the victim.
LAPD Detective Ryan Moreno expressed disbelief at the driver’s actions, stating, “It’s pretty hard to go that distance and take that many turns to think that you don’t know that you hit somebody or that somebody is under your car.”
Moreover, police stated that the driver collided with the bicyclist at 117th Street and headed southbound on Broadway.
Subsequently, the driver turned right onto 120th Street, followed by a left turn onto Athens Way, another left turn onto 124th Street, and finally a right turn back onto Broadway.
The body of the victim was ultimately discovered at the intersection of El Segundo Boulevard and Broadway in the Athens neighborhood. However, the victim’s identity has not been immediately disclosed.
The victim’s yellow bicycle exhibited dents at the scene, with one of its wheels detached. The victim’s black Adidas shoes were also found along the Street outside Bo’s Mini Market.
Meanwhile, authorities described the suspect as a male driver operating a white Chevrolet camper van with blue stripes.
Furthermore, investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department initiated a prompt closure of the intersection to traffic.
