South Los Angeles, CA (October 4, 2023) – A South Los Angeles crash injured seven people, including three children, after an armed robbery suspect tried to escape arrest and caused a collision. According to KTLA, the crash occurred just after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Los Angeles Police reveal that officers from LAPD’s Community Safety Unit tried to arrest the suspect, who was linked to an armed robbery, but he fled in a BMW.
Lt. Kenneth Busiere informed that officers were close but not directly behind him. Their vehicle’s sirens and lights were off.
However, the overhead police helicopter might have instigated the suspect’s awareness and consequent speed.
When the fleeing suspect arrived at the Broadway and West 81st intersection, his vehicle collided with a silver Hyundai Elantra carrying three adults and three children.
Moreover, an additional car experienced damage due to this South Los Angeles crash.
Responders then transported the three adults in the Hyundai – a 40-year-old man, a 36-year-old woman, and a 28-year-old man — to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Furthermore, the Los Angeles Fire Department mentioned that the three girls from the Hyundai, aged five years, four years, and five months, sustained fair condition injuries.
Meanwhile, the suspect, with a known extensive criminal record, suffered moderate injuries.
Busiere affirmed that the police would only charge him once he was discharged from the hospital. His name has yet to be released.
