Authorities confirmed the arrest of two suspects linked to the tragic street-racing incident on July 21, resulting in the death of a 20-year-old musician.
According to Detective DeHesa of the Los Angeles Police Department, the accident occurred when a Jaguar lost control and struck a pedestrian identified as 20-year-old musician Anna Michelle Solis, who was leaving a performance in the Historic South-Central.
Solis succumbed to her injuries due to the impact of the crash.
Reports say that witnesses reported a Jaguar and a black Dodge Caravan recklessly racing within the area before the crash.
Both the Jaguar and Dodge Caravan drivers fled the scene after causing the casualty.
Fortunately, authorities established the identities of the drivers. They then apprehended and arrested both suspects responsible for the fatal street-racing crash.
Police apprehended 25-year-old Palmdale resident Javorrie Murphy on charges of felony hit-and-run and second-degree murder after identifying Murphy as the driver of the Jaguar involved.
Similarly, 19-year-old Los Angeles resident Devin Wagner was arrested on second-degree murder charges as police identified as the driver of the Dodge Challenger implicated in the incident.
Authorities established a $2,000,000.00 bail for Murphy and Wagner while retrieving and impounding both vehicles as evidence.
The court has scheduled a hearing for the two suspects on September 1.
Furthermore, a GoFundMe is set to support Anna Michelle Solis’ grieving family, aiding them in shouldering the funeral expenses.
Family, friends, and supporters remembered the young musician as “a beautiful soul,” underscoring her profound impact on those around her.
