Fresno County, CA (November 16, 2022) – Gerardo Garcia (28) of Caruthers and Rafael Hernandez (68) of Fresno were identified as the fatalities in a two-vehicle collision involving a big rig in Fresno County. According to The Fresno Bee, the collision occurred around 7:00 am on Monday.
Gerardo Garcia and Rafael Hernandez died at the scene of a fatal big rig collision in Fresno County.
Authorities responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision involving a sedan and a big rig in the area of Kamm and Jameson avenues north of Burrel in Fresno County.
Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The first fatality was the sedan driver, identified as Gerardo Garcia of Caruthers.
The second fatality was a passenger of the big rig. He was identified as Rafael Hernandez of Fresno.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a northbound big rig failed to stop at the intersection of Kamm and collided with a sedan. The sedan reportedly had the right-of-way.
The collision caused the sedan to overturn and launch into a vineyard while the big rig rolled over. A hazardous material crew had to clean the diesel fuel leak on the scene.
