Tyler Minor, a 19-year-old Merced resident, tragically died at the scene of a Merced County DUI crash on October 12, as confirmed by the Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office.
According to Merced Police Sgt. Nathan McKinnon, upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered Tyler Minor pinned inside the vehicle.
Unfortunately, they were unable to detect a pulse, and they pronounced him dead at the scene.
Reports say that Minor was driving a white 2014 Acura ILX, heading southbound on Glenn Avenue, while Jonathan Ceja, 20, of Merced, was driving a 2013 gray Toyota Camry, traveling east on East 21st Street at the same time.
McKinnon mentioned that authorities are still investigating the incident, as it appears that one of the vehicles might have run a red light.
Moreover, the police have also stated that they are looking into whether Ceja was under the influence at the time of the collision.
According to McKinnon, “Throughout the investigation, when officers were out there, they determined there were indications that drug use could have been involved.”
