Los Angeles, CA (August 27, 2023) – Three passengers, Juvelyn Arroyo (23), Veronica Amezola (23), and Kimberly Izquierdo (27) succumbed to fatal injuries after an Uber car crash in Los Angeles. Three involved individuals are also in critical condition. According to KTLA, the crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Three Uber passengers succumbed to fatal injuries in an Uber car crash after a speeding driver collided with a fully occupied Uber vehicle. Three others are in critical condition.
According to California Highway Patrol, the multi-vehicle crash occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. in Los Angeles’ Westmont neighborhood, near the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Century Boulevard.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Juvelyn Arroyo, 23, Veronica Amezola, 23, and Kimberly Izquierdo, 27.
According to the reports, a white Mercedes-Benz sedan, traveling at an excessive speed, reportedly attempted to run a red light while heading northbound on Vermont Avenue.
Unfortunately, it collided head-on with a black Honda sedan driven by an Uber rideshare driver.
The impact of the crash sent the Honda into a spin across the roadway.
Responding officers then discovered at least one individual ejected from a vehicle lying in the street. They also had to extract one of the victims.
Furthermore, paramedics rushed the Mercedes driver, Uber driver, and the front passenger of the rideshare vehicle to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance with critical injuries. Both were conscious at the time of transport.
Moreover, eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing moments leading up to the collision, with claims that the Uber was stationary, awaiting a left turn when the speeding Mercedes-Benz crashed into it.
Victor Gonzalez, a witness at the scene, recounted, “They were probably trying to beat the light but didn’t see the other driver, and that’s when the collision happened. [The Mercedes] was probably going 80 or 85.”
Gonzalez attempted to aid the victims but found them unresponsive.
In response to the tragedy, an Uber spokesperson expressed their sorrow, “We are heartbroken, and our thoughts are with the families of those involved in this devastating crash. We hope the driver and rider who survived recover swiftly.”
