The incident occurred around 9 p.m. as the tram, part of the studio and theme park tour, navigated past the Jurassic Park exhibit and made a left turn to head northbound on Avenue M.
Unfortunately, the last car of the tram hit a guardrail on the right side during the turn, ejecting several passengers onto the road.
Swiftly, emergency services, including the California Highway Patrol, responded to the scene, ensuring the safety of all passengers. Fifteen passengers were then transported to a local hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
Meanwhile, authorities are investigating the cause of this Universal Studios tram crash, although alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as factors.
A spokesperson from Universal Studios provided a statement, assuring the public that they are fully committed to supporting the affected guests during this challenging time while the circumstances are being reviewed.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Maria Abal also mentioned, “There was a problem with the brakes of some sort. We’re still investigating the exact nature of the issue.”
