Upper Lake DUI Crash in Lake County Killed Two, DUI Driver Arrested
Lake County, CA (February 12, 2024) – An Upper Lake DUI crash left a 59-year-old man from Miranda and a 44-year-old man from Ukiah dead. Authorities also arrested the driver suspected of DUI. According to Lake County News, the crash happened at around 6:24 a.m. on Monday.

An Upper Lake DUI crash on Monday led to the deaths of a 59-year-old man from Miranda and a 44-year-old man from Ukiah.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Clear Lake Area office, the head-on collision occurred on Highway 20 east of Witter Springs Road, where a 2000 Nissan Frontier pickup driver, a male Ukiah resident, was traveling westbound on Highway 20 at an unspecified speed with two male passengers, including a 44-year-old man from Ukiah.
Reportedly, the pickup driver attempted to pass other vehicles by steering into the opposing eastbound lane, colliding head-on with a 2011 Toyota Prius driven by a 59-year-old man from Miranda.
Unfortunately, both the Prius driver and the Ukiah passenger in the pickup succumbed to their injuries. Meanwhile, the pickup driver and his other passenger sustained major injuries and were extricated from the vehicle.
Moreover, the names of the two deceased men were withheld Monday pending identification and notification of their families.
Authorities also suspect alcohol intoxication as a contributing factor in this Upper Lake DUI crash, leading to the pickup driver’s arrest for driving under the influence at the scene before being airlifted to a hospital in Vacaville.
The investigation into the Upper Lake DUI crash led by CHP Officer K. Brown is ongoing.
