Van Nuys, CA (August 2, 2023) – Two people sustained fatal injuries from a Van Nuys Airport plane crash in Los Angeles. According to NBC Los Angeles, the accident occurred around 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Fire Department reported a Van Nuys Airport plane crash involving a single-engine plane west of the Waterman Drive and Woodley Avenue intersection.
The accident caused two occupants to succumb to their injuries. Authorities have not disclosed the victims’ identities yet.
LAFD spokesperson Nicholas Prange reported that the incident occurred when a single-engine plane crashed nose-first, with two individuals onboard, sending shockwaves throughout the airport.
Moments after the impact, the aircraft erupted into a fiery explosion.
As emergency responders and airport personnel rushed to the scene, they discovered two fatally injured people inside the plane.
Moreover, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the plane was a CSA SportCruiser.
The airport police said that the plane had its registration at the Van Nuys facility. It remained uncertain whether the crash occurred during takeoff or landing.
Furthermore, Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Erik Scott mentioned, “They did a very, very high impact, what was described as nose-first into the ground. Tragically that likely quickly caused the death of both of the occupants.”
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will lead the investigation of this Van Nuys Airport plane. FAA officials further mentioned that they anticipate releasing a preliminary crash report within the next day.
