According to the Ventura County Fire Department, the crash occurred near Sand Canyon Road and East Los Angeles Avenue, alternatively known as California 118, in the unincorporated area of Somis.
Moreover, the authorities reported that the Amtrak Pacific SurfLiner, bound for Los Angeles, hit a semi-truck halted on the level-grade railroad crossing.
As a result, the accident involving six train cars, which only the first one derailed, injured five people.
Among those taken to the hospital, four sustained minor injuries, while one suffered from minor to moderate wounds. The train was transporting 90 passengers and had five staff onboard.
Subsequently, California 118 between Balcom Canyon Road and Somis Road (California 34) was blocked off following this Ventura County train crash.
However, authorities reopened these roads on Wednesday morning.
