Two people succumbed to fatal injuries in a West Compton accident after a speeding vehicle slammed into a fire truck. Four others also sustained minor injuries from the collision.
A West Compton accident happened early Tuesday when a speeding vehicle collided with a Los Angeles County Fire Department fire truck, resulting in the loss of two lives and injuries to four firefighters.
According to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Angelia Gonzales, the firetruck was en route to an emergency call, traveling northbound on Avalon Boulevard and approaching the intersection with Compton Boulevard.
A Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven westward on Compton Boulevard at a significantly high speed, collided with the firetruck. The crash involved three vehicles.
The occupants of the Chrysler, identified solely as a man and a woman between 25 and 30, died at the scene.
Moreover, a woman, claiming to be the passenger’s sister, identified her as Asia Allen-Bookman, a 25-year-old mother to a 3-year-old child.
Meanwhile, the four firefighters inside the fire truck incurred minor injuries from the crash.
Furthermore, witnesses said the vehicle that slammed into the fire truck was going at a speed rate of 80 mph when the accident occurred.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities have yet to ascertain whether this West Compton accident involved a potential street race or if any drivers were under alcohol or drugs.
J&M Tip: Participating in speed contests and public road exhibitions, including street and drag racing, is illegal under California legislation. In response to the growing occurrences of unlawful speed racing in the state, lawmakers enacted an updated version called California Assembly Bill 3, commonly recognized as Ryan’s Law.

More About Truck Accident Liability
When it comes to truck accidents, the person or entity that owns the truck can become liable for the incident. Truck drivers usually have contract-based work relationships with their employers. Truck drivers can also end up in a legal mess if investigations determine that they violated trucking standards, causing the accident.
During the investigations, other contributing factors might be uncovered, like driver’s fatigue or maintenance failure. Federal and state trucking laws impose standards on truck driver work hours, speed limits, and driver sleep requirements, which must be met. If investigations find any violations of these standards, more parties can become liable for the incident.
