The Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire Department reported a Winchester big rig accident on Wednesday morning, resulting in the loss of two lives and two others injured.
According to California Highway Patrol, the collision involving the semi-truck and Dodge SUV occurred in the eastbound lanes of Domenigoni, resulting in the SUV spinning out of control and colliding with a fire hydrant and a traffic signal pole, causing it to break.
Tragically, two individuals died from the crash, while two others were swiftly transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
Additionally, one person received an assessment at the scene but declined further medical treatment.
Moreover, the collision had further consequences as it caused the spillage of approximately 50 gallons of oil and diesel onto the roadway.
In response, the Eastern Municipal Water District technicians temporarily closed the area, shut off the water, and capped the broken hydrant. However, as of 1 p.m., eastbound Domenigoni Parkway was anticipated to remain closed for an extended duration, as conveyed by the fire department.
Furthermore, CHP is investigating the cause of this Winchester big rig accident.
J&M Tip: Truck collisions pose significant risks because of these vehicles’ substantial size and weight. All drivers must exercise vigilance and remain mindful of the presence of trucks on the road, contributing to accident prevention and the safety of all individuals on the roadways.

More About Truck Accident Liability
When it comes to truck accidents, the person or entity that owns the truck can become liable for the incident. Truck drivers usually have contract-based work relationships with their employers. Truck drivers can also end up in a legal mess if investigations determine that they violated trucking standards, causing the accident.
During the investigations, other contributing factors might be uncovered, like driver’s fatigue or maintenance failure. Federal and state trucking laws impose standards on truck driver work hours, speed limits, and driver sleep requirements, which must be met. If investigations find any violations of these standards, more parties can become liable for the incident.
Trucking accident attorneys can help you check if any regulations were violated, contributing to your accident. Their duties generally include:
- Identify who’s responsible
- Calculate damages
- Fill out paperwork
