Livermore, CA (July 24, 2023) – Mitchell Katz (59) suffered fatal injuries in a Livermore car crash. According to NBC Bay Area, the crash occurred around 3:20 p.m. on Friday.
Mitchell Katz, a local winery owner, succumbed to fatal injuries in a car crash on East Avenue in Livermore.
The Livermore Police Department responded to a deadly car crash on East Avenue at Mitra Street that resulted in a fatality of a local winery owner.
Alameda County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 59-year-old Mitchell Katz, owner of Mitchell Katz Winery on Vasco Road.
According to the report, a GMC SUV driven by Katz attempted to change lanes and struck a black Subaru on East Avenue at Mitra Street.
Responders then took him to the hospital with significant injuries. Unfortunately, he later died at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Subaru driver, a man in his 20s from Westley, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Mitchell Katz founded Mitchell Katz Winery, a cherished establishment within the Livermore community, in 1998. The winery, located on South Vasco Road, holds a special significance as it bears the name of his 96-year-old grandfather, who devoted over half a century to home winemaking.
