Yvonne Joby, Yasmeen Jobeh, and Jennifer Dagher Identified as Victims of Fatal Alleged DUI Crash in Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA (May 25, 2022) – Yvonne Joby (18) of Ventura, Yasmeen Jobeh (23) of Oxnard, and Jennifer Dagher (20) of Ventura were identified as fatalities of an alleged DUI crash in Los Angeles. According to the VC Star, the incident happened at around 11:55 pm on Saturday (May 14).
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office, the identities of the three victims weren’t immediately released to the public until this week.
As shared by the California Highway Patrol, the three women rode a 2003 Mercedes-Benz C240 sedan. It then collided with a 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL550 convertible eastbound on Highway 118 near the Interstate 405 transition.

According to the CHP’s findings, the Mercedes-Benz sedan rested on the transition road’s right lane for unknown reasons. Then, Glendale resident Karen Gharibyan (63) veered the convertible to the right going over the marked triangular section to reach southbound of the 405.
Authorities don’t know why Gharibyan drove this way, leading to the collision. The women’s vehicle then caught fire after it hit a sound wall due to the impact.
All three women in the sedan were pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, Gharibyan sustained severe injuries. Responders then transported Gharibyan to Providence Holy Cross Hospital.
As stated in VC Star, court documents show that Gharibyan pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder. This happened at an arraignment at the San Fernando Courthouse of Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday. Gharibyan’s preliminary hearing will happen on June 9 at 8:30 am at the Clara Shortridge Folze Criminal Justice Center in Los Angeles.
Joby’s friend Josilynn De Martino said, “I was absolutely shocked… I was really sad. She was just absolutely the nicest person really I’ve ever met.” She continued, “she would always go out of her way to text and post.”
“All donations that are graciously collected will be going towards a scholarship in memory of Yasmeen Jobeh and Yvonne Joby.”
Cousins Jobeh and Joby’s family members set up a GoFundMe page, saying both wanted to pursue careers in mental health. They’re raising money for scholarships in honor of Jobeh and Joby.
