Driver Arrested in Alleged DUI Solo-Vehicle Collision in Ventura
VENTURA, CA (August 2, 2018) – A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a car crash in Ventura that resulted in serious injuries on Monday, July 30.
The collision happened just before 2:25 a.m. when Ventura police and fire personnel responded to the area near South Victoria Avenue and Olivas Park Drive.
Emergency personnel arrived at the crash site and discovered a vehicle with two occupants that had crashed a traffic signal.
According to authorities, fire personnel extricated the driver from the vehicle after approximately 45 minutes while also performing life support. The driver’s legs had reportedly become trapped under the dashboard after the crash.
Ventura police stated that the driver, a 38-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of DUI but released from custody due to his serious injuries. The man was rushed to a local hospital via ambulance.
The vehicle’s second occupant did not require to be pulled out from the vehicle but was also transported to a trauma center for evaluation, police said.
The incident stayed under investigation by Ventura police.
